Cristina Roy has had a lifelong passion for helping people.She founded Back2Health Yoga as a continuation of that passion.It is her desire to share the tremendous benefits and relief she herself receives from yoga.Her dedication to helping people living in pain due to their back condition mirrors her own journey, of finding relief from scoliosis thanks to yoga.Nothing makes her happier than hearing from her many students the improvements they’ve experienced since starting their own yoga journey.
Cristina is a dedicated practitioner of Iyengar Yoga and its emphasis on detail, precision and alignment. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and completed the B.K.S Iyengar Yogamala Teacher Training program where she trained with senior teacher Patricia Walden in Boston, MA.She has also completed the Yoga for Back Care and Scoliosis training with Alison West of Yoga Union in NYC.She frequently attends workshops and focused studies with senior level Iyengar Yoga instructors to stay up to date with the therapeutic application of yoga.The rigorous trainings and continuing education make Cristina a qualified yoga instructor who provides the best level of care.
With a passion for serving the most vulnerable, Cristina has volunteered at various organizations in the Hudson Valley.She has volunteered at Open Door Community Health Center, bringing yoga to low-income, under-served residents and at the Victims Assistance Services as a Rape Crisis Hotline Advocate. Cristina has completed a Trauma-Informed Yoga teacher training through Exhale to Inhale. She has a deep desire to help survivors of trauma and abuse; offering yoga as a way to re-build their self-esteem, feel accomplished, and with time, become aware that they alone are in control of their capable bodies.
In an effort to stay connected with the local yoga community, Cristina instructs group classes at different yoga studios in the Hudson Valley, including Dutchess Yoga in Poughkeepsie and Beacon Yoga Center in Beacon.
