Yoga for Back Pain + Herniation Series

This three-session series offers an introduction to yoga for herniation and other back issues. We will review basic anatomy of the spine related to herniations, the fundamentals of safe movement for your back issues, and how to practice basic yoga postures to alleviate back pain. Appropriate for disc bulges and herniations, stenosis, spondylolisthesis and back muscle strain. This series offers a methodical introduction to yoga for back pain and herniations with each week building on the last to allow for a thorough progression of learning.

This series is open to ALL LEVELS of students.

What you will learn:

  • Basic anatomy of the spine related to common back issues
  • Types of pain and how to address them
  • Basic poses to alleviate back pain
  • What is good posture? And poses that establish sound posture
  • The importance to proper body mechanics
  • Deeper understanding about herniated discs
  • Poses that decompress the spine to alleviate pain caused by herniations

About the Instructor

Cristina Roy, Instructor, kneeling down smiling Cristina Roy has had a lifelong passion for helping people, with particular interest in the therapeutic effects of yoga for people with back conditions.  Her dedication to helping people living in pain due to their back issues mirrors her own journey, of finding relief from scoliosis thanks to yoga. Cristina is a dedicated practitioner of Iyengar Yoga and is drawn to its emphasis on detail, precision and alignment. She aims to share her understanding and enthusiasm with students so they can experience the many benefits yoga can offer.
